CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Sophomore Kyle Jackson (Sarnia, Ontario/The Hill School) of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team has been named the ECAC Player of the Week for tallying a school-record five goals in a 19-10 win over Robert Morris on Saturday (April 26).
Jackson notched three of his five goals in the first quarter against the Colonials, becoming the first Wolverine ever to score a hat trick in the first quarter, with markers at the 12:57, 6:57 and 6:19 marks and the first two tallies coming off feeds from junior David McCormack (Terrace Park, Ohio/Mariemont). Jackson sent home scores in the second and third quarter to seal his scoring output. In all, the Canadian totaled eight shots on the afternoon.
The sophomore is No. 2 on the squad in goals (24), points (29) and shots (75).
The honor is the first player of the week honor of the season for U-M and first of Jackson's career. He previously earned ECAC Rookie of the Week on March 11 of last season.
Jackson and the rest of the Wolverines will now partake in the ECAC Tournament, beginning on Thursday (May 1) at 5 p.m. and will face the No. 15 Fairfield Stags from Ohio State's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The berth is the first in program history.
