Jackson, Hernandez and Logan Earn ECAC All-Rookie Team Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan lacrosse players Gerald Logan (Shoreham, N.Y./The Hotchkiss School), Kyle Jackson (Sarnia, Ontario/The Hill School) and Mike Hernandez (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) have been named to the 2013 ECAC All-Rookie Team on Thursday (May 2).

Logan leads the NCAA with 211 saves and ended his freshman campaign averaging 15-plus saves per contest between the pipes. He recorded double-digit stops in 13-of-14 contests and stopped at least 15 shots in nine games. Logan compiled a save percentage of 56, faced 565 shots and also led the team in ground balls with 36.

His program-record 25 saves against Army on March 2 tied the NCAA record for saves in a single game this season.

Jackson led the team in goals with 17 and tied for the team lead in assists with nine. He was instrumental in U-M's victory over St. Joseph's (April 20), scoring two goals and dishing out a pair of assists on nine shots. Additionally, he tied the program record with four assists in a contest against High Point (March 6). Overall, Jackson had eight multi-goal games for the Wolverines and led the team with 81 shots.

Hernandez was second on the squad with 21 points, tying for the team lead with Jackson in helpers with nine. He was third on the team in goals with 12 and second on the team in shots with 64. He tied the program record for goals in a single game with four against High Point on March 6. Hernandez also had a goal in eight games as a first line midfielder.

Meanwhile, the team postseason award banquet was held on Wednesday (April 1) with Logan taking home Most Valuable Player, Freshman of the Year and Defensive MVP, while Jackson collected Offensive MVP accolades.

Junior Jeff Chu (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) collected the team's FIST Award and Weight Room Warrior Award, while Andrew Mosko (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) earned the Scout Team Award. Chase Brown (Severna Park, Md./Severn) took home the Brekan Kohlitz Award, given to the team's top player at any specialist position, while longstick Mack Gembis (Birmingham, Mich./Cranbrook Kingswood) and Chu shared the team's Most Improved Player Award.
