ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team has announced the addition of former varsity club team captain Michael Bartomioli to the squad's staff in the position of video coordinator. A two-time MCLA champion (2009-10), and team captain, Bartomioli recently held positions with both No Limit and Maverik Lacrosse.
"When Mike told me he was interested in coming back to Michigan, I jumped at the chance to add him to the staff," said head coach John Paul. "He was a great player and leader here. Since graduating, he has stayed involved in the game as a coach and his work with Showtime Lacrosse. We are doing some very exciting, cutting-edge things with our video and the way we get information to our players, and Mike will be instrumental in putting that together."
Bartomioli played for Paul and assistant coach Ken Broschart two seasons after transferring from Providence College, where he earned two letters as a defensive midfielder. Upon his arrival in Ann Arbor, he captured All-CCLA selections in both 2009 and 2010 and earned the team's Rookie of the Year award in his first season for the Maize and Blue. In his two seasons, he scored 14 goals, dished out eight assists and collected 55 ground balls.
"I would like to thank Coach Paul and his staff for giving me the opportunity to return to my alma mater and help build this program," said Bartomioli. "This is such an exciting time for Michigan, and I am so happy to be a part of it. As a former player, it is amazing to see how far the program has come. The future of the program is a bright one, and I look forward to doing everything I can to make sure the players reach their potential and achieve their goals."
Following graduation, he earned a graduate degree from the University of Florida in sport management while serving as an assistant coach with the Florida Gators MCLA lacrosse team in 2011. Since leaving Gainesville, he held positions with Maverik Lacrosse in events and product feedback, and director of events for Showtime Lacrosse National Recruiting Spotlight events as well as director of events for No Limit Lacrosse.
