ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Junior/sophomore Noble Sullivan (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central HS) scored in the second overtime session to give the University of Michigan men's soccer team a 2-1 victory at Oakland on Wednesday evening (Oct. 12) at the OU Soccer Field. The Wolverines captured their first overtime victory of the season; U-M was 0-3-1 in its previous extra-session contests.

Sullivan scored the game-winning tally at 104:53, finishing the goal on a deflected shot from inside the 18-yard box. Junior Latif Alashe (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) and sophomore Fabio Villas Boas Pereira (Sao Paolo, Brazil/South Kent School [Conn.]) assisted on the first career goal by Sullivan, who scored the game-winner 64 seconds after re-entering the game as a substitution in double overtime.

Junior Kofi Opare (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul HS) gave Michigan the first-half lead as he headed in a corner kick by fifth-year senior captain Adam Shaw (Lone Tree, Colo./Highlands Ranch HS) at 30:12. The goal was Opare's second of the season and second in as many games; he also headed in a corner kick against Wisconsin (Oct. 9).

Michigan had 10 shots on goal during the opening half, while Oakland was held without a shot. The Wolverines had six corner kicks and took advantage by notching the only first-half tally on the set play.

Oakland evened the score nearly halfway into the second half as Jake Przybycien finished a low cross by Winston Henderson at 69:09. The goal by Przybycien was his third of the season. Regulation ended with the game tied at 1-1. The Wolverines outshot the Grizzlies, 22-4, in regulation and held a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks.

U-M will return to Big Ten play on Saturday evening (Oct. 15, 7 p.m.), hosting No. 18 Indiana in a primetime affair at the U-M Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised on tape-delay basis by the Big Ten Network.
