ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team concluded its 2012 spring season with a 2-1-1 overall mark, defeating the likes of Detroit by a 1-0 count on Feb. 18 at Glick Field House, as well as the Michigan State Spartans by a 1-0 score line in its final game of the spring campaign on March 31 at Ultimate Soccer Arena.
"The spring season for the team was productive, as the players and new coaching staff became more familiar with each other leading in to the 2012 season," said first year head coach Chaka Daley.
"We played some competitive games that gave our staff a good assessment of where we currently stand, and a greater indication on what is needed from a technical, tactical, and personnel standpoint, for where we want to be as a program. We have definitely made some strides forward and look forward to integrating our future prospects with our returning players."
Following the defeat of Detroit to open the campaign, the squad battled to a 1-1 draw against NAIA power Lindsey Wilson on March 24 at Ultimate Soccer Arena in the first of two contests on the day before falling to Notre Dame in the night cap by the score of 1-0.
The Wolverines will report for fall camp in early August to embark on year one of the Chaka Daley Era.
