ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team wrapped up its 2014 spring season with a 4-0 record and held the program's annual Alumni Cup Tournament on April 12 at U-M Soccer Stadium.

Overall, the spring season saw U-M defeat Loyola-Chicago, Detroit, Notre Dame and Michigan State by a combined score line of 10-1. Rising senior Marcos Ugarte (Providence, R.I./Providence) bagged himself three goals over the four contests to lead the U-M output. Fellow rising senior TJ VanSlooten (Grand Rapids, Mich./Northview), sophomore Tyler Anderson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson) and Georgia State transfer William Mellors-Blair (Nottingham, England/Georgia State) each netted a pair of scores in the four victories.

The Alumni Cup Tournament featured nearly 50 current and former Wolverines. The side that consisted of Etienne Lussiez (2013), Brian Klemczak (2013), Trai Blanks (2005), Tim Puckett (1992) and Alex Wood (2010) took home the cup, with Klemczak (defensive) and Wood (offensive) taking home MVP honors.

The Wolverines are coming off a season with an overall record of 8-7-3. In individual accolades, Tyler Arnone (Hicksville, N.Y./St. John's) made history as the first recipient of the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year award and became the fourth Wolverine to earn back-to-back first team All-Big Ten accolades in program history. In addition to Arnone's prowess, defenders Lars Eckenrode (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) and Rylee Woods (Jamestown, Ohio/Greeneview) each earned spots on the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

U-M also boasts the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, according to TopDrawerSoccer.com and College Soccer News, which includes a trio of consensus top-25 recruits in Ahinga Selemani (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer), Evan Louro (Holmdel, N.J./St. John Vianney) and Nathan Kohl (Hillard, Ohio/Hillard Darby).
