ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team will host the Valparaiso Crusaders Monday (Nov. 4) on Senior Night, and will honor its six graduating seniors in T.J. Roehn (Tampa, Fla./South Florida), Tyler Leppek (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester), Malcolm Miller (Lawrenceville, Ga./Collins Hill), Dylan Mencia (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep), Ezekiel Harris (Flint, Mich./Carman Ainsworth) and Fabio Pereira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/South Kent School (Conn.)).
U-M enters the two-match week coming off a 2-1 defeat against the No. 17 Akron Zips Wednesday (Oct. 30), a result that snapped a three-match winning streak for the Maize & Blue. Last season U-M went 4-2 in the month of November, with the only defeats coming in the Big Ten Championship (Michigan State) and the second round of the NCAA Tournament (Akron).
The Wolverines are 3-0 all-time against the Crusaders, with the last win coming last season on Oct. 27 by a 1-0 count. A score in the 89th minute from Fabio Pereira was the difference, and was the fifth clean sheet in senior/junior goalkeeper Adam Grinwis' (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills) career.
Overall, U-M has outscored Valparaiso, 7-3, in the three matches, with the last two being played in Ann Arbor. The Crusaders enter the match with a 4-6-5 record and are 1-5-2 in their last eight matches. Most recently, Valpo snapped a three-match losing streak with a 1-0 win over Cleveland State on Saturday (Nov. 2).
The week will be capped off by the final regular-season match of the 2013 campaign when U-M ventures to East Lansing, Mich., on Saturday (Nov. 9). The Wolverines will battle No. 22 Michigan State for the Big Bear Trophy at 2 p.m. in a match that will also be streamed live on MGoBlue.com.
