BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Senior forward Mauro Fuzetti (Houston, Texas/Stratford), junior forward Justin Meram (Shelby Township, Mich./Yavapai College) and freshmen Latif Alashe (Northville, Mich./Northville), Kofi Opare (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul) and Hamoody Saad (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn) were among the honorees for the Big Ten All-Conference awards announced at the annual postseason award banquet on Thursday (Nov. 12). Senior Daniel Gray (Setauket, N.Y./Chaminade) was selected as U-M's Big Ten Sportsmanship award recipient.

Fuzetti, who earned All-Big Ten first team honors for the second consecutive year, leads the U-M offense this season with a team-best eight goals to go along with three assists. He also became U-M's career leader in shots attempted (186) and moved into the top three all-time in scores (23).

Meram proves to be an important piece of the Michigan offense in his first year with the team. The 2008 Junior College National Player of the Year leads the Wolverines with 20 points on seven goals and a team-best six assists. He showcased his offensive skills in becoming the sixth player in program history to record a hat trick with three goals against Bowling Green on Sept. 19. Meram is second on the team in goals (7) and shots (48).

U-M has nine freshmen this season, led by Alashe, Opare and Saad. Alashe has been in the starting lineup for each game and picked up his first career point with an assist against Lipscomb on Sept. 13. He has totaled three points during his freshman campaign and has recorded 17 shots, with seven reaching the frame.

Opare has seen action in 14 games this season, with 10 starts. Seeing action in the U-M defense as well as in the midfield, Opare scored his first collegiate goal in U-M's 3-0 win over Wright State at the Michigan Invitational early in the campaign.

Despite his rookie status, Saad ranks third on the team in goals with five markers and has notched six assists. He has also produced six multi-point games on the season, and contributed a four-game streak with at least one point midway through the campaign. Saad has formed a powerful offensive trio with forwards Fuzetti and Meram and was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week with four-point week in U-M victories over Detroit and Western Michigan in September.

Gray, a two-time captain for the Wolverines, has appeared in 14 games with 10 starts this season and has recorded three assists on the year. In addition to his on-field accomplishments, Gray is active in TopSoccer, a community-based organization for young athletes with physical and mental disabilities. Gray is also a senior advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.

The Big Ten Sportsmanship award is bestowed upon student-athletes that have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Gray is now a candidate for the Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award, as the conference office will honor one male and one female student-athlete from each institution at the end of the school year.
