ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior/junior Tyler Arnone (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) of the University of Michigan men's soccer team has been named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region first team, the association announced Tuesday (Dec. 10).
Arnone becomes the sixth Wolverine in program history to earn the distinction, with the last being Soony Saad in the 2010 season. Along with Saad, he joins Knox Cameron (2001-03), Mychal Turpin (2004), Michael Holody (2008) and Peri Marosevic (2008) as the other Wolverines to earn the honorable distinction.
In addition to being named the 2013 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, Arnone is now the fourth player in U-M history to earn back-to-back all-conference first team honors.
The Hicksville, N.Y., native was also a member of the Big Ten Preseason Watch List and played the entire match on 13 occasions this season. The team captain started 17 of the 18 matches on the campaign, collecting two goals and five assists, which ranked eighth in the Big Ten. Arnone's most vital score of the season came in a 2-1 win at Wisconsin on Oct. 20, when he netted the game-winning goal.
