Ron Gora, a two-time NCAA champion on the 400-yard freestyle relay team , passed away on March 11. Here is a list of his athletic accomplishments:

  • At the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland, he finished eighth in 100 Freestyle
  • At the first Pan Am Games in 1951, he was a gold medalist on the 400 Free Relay and Silver Medalist in the 100 Free
  • Two-time NCAA Champion ('53 and '54) 400 Free Relay - University of Michigan
  • Three-Time NCAA All American '53,'54 and' 55 - Michigan
  • Big Ten Champion 100 Free 1955 - Michigan
  • National High School Record Holder in 50 and 100
  • He and Tom Jager still are tied for second (behind Matt Elliott) with the number of the most individual titles at the Illinois State High School Championships. (100 free 3 times), 50 free style twice; 200 free) Lane Tech
