ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Sophomore Dylan Bosch (Johannesburg, South Africa/Crawford College, Sandton) was named Big Ten Men's Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday (Dec. 10) for his efforts in helping the University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team to a first-place finish at the AT&T Winter National Championships last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.
He had four top-10 individual finishes at the three-day meet, including a trio of top-three finishes and a victory in the 200-yard butterfly. In that race, Bosch re-set his own Big Ten and University of Michigan record with a time of 1:41.01. He also finished third in both the 200-yard IM (1:43.47) and 400-yard IM (3:45.31) and ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (46.57). Over the course of the event, he automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200-yard butterfly and as part of the 400-yard medley relay while also picking up NCAA 'B' times in four events (three individual, one relay).
Bosch now ranks first in the nation in the 200-yard butterfly by a staggering 1.87 seconds. He also ranks third in the 200-yard IM, seventh in the 400-yard IM and ninth in the 100-yard butterfly. Additionally, he leads the Big Ten in three of those four events (all but the 100-yard butterfly).
Michigan is off from competition until after the New Year, as the swimmers will close out their annual semester training trip on Jan. 3 at the Orange Bowl Classic in Key Largo, Fla.
