ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 31-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team dropped the doubles point and all six singles matches in a 7-0 loss to No. 13 Duke on Sunday (Feb. 9) at the Varsity Tennis Center.

The Wolverines began the match by dropping the doubles point for the first time this season, falling at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Duke tandem of Fred Saba and Raphael Hemmeler defeated juniors Alex Petrone (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs Prep) and Michael Zhu (Princeton, N.J./Keystone National), 8-4, at the No. 2 position in the first match off the court. The Blue Devil duo of Michael Redlicki and Jason Tahir earned a narrow 6-5 (4) decision over Alex Buzzi (Key Biscayne, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and senior Barrett Franks (Christchuch, New Zealand/Shirley Boys' School) at the top spot to earn the first point of the match.

Senior Shaun Bernstein (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview Old Bethpage JFK) and freshman Kevin Wong (Hong Kong/Diocesa) were tied with Daniel McCall and Cale Hammond, 5-5, at No. 3 when doubles play was abandoned.

The Blue Devils won the first three singles matches in straight sets to claim four points and seal the dual-match victory. Duke went up 2-0 after 77th-ranked Josh Levine defeated Wong, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5. Moments later, Tahir knocked off Bernstein, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 4 to put the Blue Devils ahead 3-0.

Duke clinched the match soon after at the No. 4 singles position, as Hemmeler defeated Buzzi, 6-3, 6-5 (4), to give the Blue Devils the fourth point of the dual. After fate of the match was already decided, Duke notched victories at the No. 2, 6 and 1 positions to earn the sweep.
