MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team won the doubles point and three of the first four singles matches off the court to earn a 4-3 victory at Wisconsin on Sunday (April 13) at the Nielsen Tennis Center.

Michigan got off to a quick start in doubles thanks to an efficient 8-0 win at the No. 3 position by junior Vlad Stefan (Bucharest, Romania) and freshman Kevin Wong (Hong Kong/Diocesa). The No. 2 duo of junior Alex Petrone (Staten Island, N.Y./Laurel Springs Prep) and junior Michael Zhu (Princeton, N.J./Keystone National) followed up with an 8-5 victory to secure the doubles point for Michigan.

Transitioning to singles, U-M won consecutive matches at the No. 1 and No. 6 positions to earn a 3-0 advantage. Petrone was first off the court, earning a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Petr Satral at the No. 1 position. Shortly thereafter, Wong picked up his fifth consecutive victory, notching a 6-4, 6-1 decision over Frederik Strabo at No. 6.

After the Badgers earned their first point of the dual with a victory at the No. 5 position, senior Alex Buzzi (Key Biscayne, Fla./Gulliver Prep) clinched the win for the Maize and Blue with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Elliott Sprecher at the No. 4 position in the lineup.

After the Wolverines built a 4-1 lead, Wisconsin won the final two matches off the court -- at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions -- to post their second and third points of the match.

U-M will close out the regular season next weekend with a pair of Big Ten matches at the Varsity Tennis Center.
