Recruiting Class for 2010-11 Receives No. 3 Ranking by
Shaun Bernstein

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The three-man recruiting class for the University of Michigan men's tennis team is ranked at No. 3 nationally by the recruiting website, as the new spring rankings were unveiled on Monday (May 24). Four of the last five recruiting hauls for the Wolverines and head coach Bruce Berque have been ranked among the top five nationally, though this year's ranking of No. 3 is the highest in program history.

The Wolverines were behind only Duke and UCLA, respectively, and ahead of Georgia and Notre Dame in the top five. Michigan received two first-place votes and joined Duke and UCLA as the only teams in the nation to land two blue-chip prospects in the same class -- Shaun Bernstein (Plainview, N.Y./Plainview Old Bethpage JFK) and Justin Rossi (Novi, Mich./Laurel Springs Prep). Foreign product Barrett Franks (Chirstchurch, New Zealand/Shirley Boys) will join Bernstein and Rossi as official members of the Wolverines in the fall.

The only other Big Ten teams in the rankings were Northwestern (No. 23) and Purdue (No. 24), also giving Michigan the conference's best incoming class. Penn State received votes but did not crack the top 25.

Michigan loses seniors George Navas (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Preparatory) and Mike Sroczynski (Chatham, N.J./Laurel Springs Prep) to graduation but will return five letterwinners in 2010-11, including All-Big Ten selection Jason Jung (Torrance, Calif./West Torrance) and Big Ten Freshman of the Year Evan King (Chicago, Ill./Kaplan).
