Michigan to Face Florida State in 2015 ITA Kick-Off Opener

SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team was selected to participate in the 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend, the organization announced on Wednesday (June 4). The Wolverines will travel to Austin, Texas, to face Florida State Jan. 24-25.

Joining No. 3 seed Michigan will be No. 1 seed Texas, No. 2 seed Seminoles and No. 4 seed Minnesota. The No. 1 team at each site will face the No. 4 team, with the No. 2 team squaring off against the No. 3 team. Two matches are guaranteed, as the winners and losers of both matches will play the following day. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, to be held Feb. 13-16, at the Atkins Tennis Center at the University of Illinois.

The Wolverines last headed to the National Team Indoor Championships in 2009, defeating California and Virginia Commonwealth to qualify.

The Wolverines finished up the 2013 season with a 16-13 record, including a 6-5 mark in Big Ten play, and advanced to NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season.
