SKILLMAN, N.J. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team was selected to participate in the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend, the organization announced on Tuesday (June 5). The Wolverines will travel to Berkeley, Calif., to play at the University of California Jan. 25-26.
Joining No. 1 seed California and No. 2 seed U-M will be No. 3 Santa Clara and No. 4 Boise State. The No. 1 team at each site will face the No. 4 team, with the No. 2 team squaring off against the No. 3 team. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, Feb. 15-18, at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center at the University of Washington.
The Wolverines last headed to the National Team Indoor Championships in 2009, defeating California and Virginia Commonwealth to qualify.
The Wolverines wrapped up the 2011-12 season with an 18-8 record, a runner-up Big Ten finish and appearance in the NCAA Second Round. U-M will return its entire roster in 2012-13.
