Volunteer Assistant

Adam Harris is in his first season as volunteer assistant coach for the University of Michigan men's track & field team. He will assist head coach Fred LaPlante with the sprinters and hurdlers and assistant coach David Kaiser with horizontal jump events.

Possibly the fastest man to ever don a Michigan track and field uniform, Harris lettered from 2006-09, earning All-America honors three times and was Big Ten Track Athlete of the Year twice -- 2009 Indoor and 2008 Outdoor. He owns Michigan records in both the 60-meter dash (6.60; 2009) and the 100-meter dash (10.09; 2009). He was a 2009 Outdoor All-American in the 100-meter dash, where he finished seventh with a time of 10.29 and was also a two-time Indoor All-American in the 60-meter dash (2008-09). Harris was an eight-time Big Ten Champion during his career, including four times outdoor (2009: 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash; 2008: 200-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay) and four times indoor (2009: 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash; 2008: 60-meter dash, long jump). In addition, Harris was also a five-time All-Big Ten selection, earning first team honors in both indoor and outdoor (2008-09).

Harris was a member of the 2008 Guyana Olympic team, running the 200-meter dash (21.36) in the preliminaries of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. He was a two-time Gatorade Illinois Athlete of the Year (2004, 2005) and a seven-time Illinois state champion for Wheaton North, capturing back-to-back titles in the 100m, 200m and 110m hurdles (2004, 2005).
