SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team wrapped up the two-day Notre Dame Meyo Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 5) inside the Loftus Sports Center. Among the top performers was senior/junior Robert Peddlar (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Boys), who recorded a new career high in the long jump on Friday (Feb. 4) by nine inches (24-10 1/2 ft.).
After having the fastest time in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles on Friday, fifth-year senior Nick McCampbell (Detroit, Mich./Cass Tech) took fourth (8.18) in the finals on Saturday. Freshman Erick Gavin (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) led the contingent with a third-place finish (8.16), with fellow freshman Herman Washington (Blacklick, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) in sixth (8.20). Another freshman, Ali Arastu (Northville, Mich./Northville), took second in the 500-meter run on Friday (1:03.81).
Elsewhere on the track, junior Matthew Campbell (Rochester, Mich./Rochester) won the unseeded flight of the 400-meter dash (48.45). In the seeded section, senior David St. Amant (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) finished eighth (48.30). Also, redshirt sophomore Nick Neuman (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) took sixth in the seeded section of the 200-meter dash (21.72).
Freshman Cody Riffle (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) took third in the shot put on Saturday, coming through with a top throw of 57-11 1/4 ft. Redshirt freshman Bradley James (East Lansing, Mich./Haslett) once again broke the seven-foot barrier in the high jump, finishing third (7-0 1/2 ft.). Peddlar also finished fifth in the triple jump (48-4 1/2 ft.).
During Friday's session, redshirt freshman Ethan Dennis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grandville) was third in the 35-lb. weight throw (63-7 ft.) and sophomore Jack Greenlee (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) tied for fifth in pole vault (16-0 3/4 ft.).
The Wolverines return to the state of Michigan next weekend, competing at the Grand Valley State Big Meet, beginning on Friday (Feb. 11) at noon in Allendale, Mich. The meet will complete on Saturday (Feb. 12), which begins at 9:30 a.m.

Michigan did not send any distance runners to the meet.
James has high-jumped more than seven feet in every meet this season.
Robert Peddlar's top mark in the long jump (24-10 1/2 ft.) was second best in the meet, and a new career high. It surpassed his previous best of 24-1 1/2 feet, achieved at the Eastern Michigan Invitational on Jan. 8.
Senior and South Bend, Ind., native Carl Buchanon did not run in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles. He did run compete as anchor on the 4x400-meter relay with David St. Amant, Matthew Campbell and freshman Eric Oliver. The quartet finished third (3:12.15).
