YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team won seven of the 11 events it competed in on the final day at the EMU Invitational on Saturday (April 20) at Rynearson Stadium. The Wolverines won eight of 12 total events throughout the two-day event.

In the field, freshman Stephen Burk (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) recorded the day's best mark in the javelin with a throw of 56.14 meters (184-2.25). Sophomore/freshman Derek Sievers (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) won the shot put with a toss of 15.73 meters (51-7.25). Fifth-year senior Erik Braun (Pinckney, Mich./ Pinckney Community) registered a mark of 13.53 meters (44-4.75) to earn the triple jump crown.

On the track, junior Justin Clarke (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) ran a time of 10.86 to win the 100-meter dash. Junior Erick Gavin (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) clocked the fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles, matching his career best of 14.13, to win the event.

Michigan went 1-2 in the 800-meter run, as sophomore/freshman Zac Miklja (Rochester, Mich./Avondale) and freshman Nate Chapman (Auburn Hills, Mich./Avondale) were the first to cross the finish line in times of 1:54.30 and 1:55.08, respectively. It marks a new career-best time for Miklja.

Michigan's 4x100-meter relay team was also victorious, finishing the race in 41.78. The relay consisted of sophomore/freshman Codie Nolan (Morenci, Mich./Adrian), fifth-year senior Matthew Campbell (Rochester, Mich./Rochester), freshman Antonio Whitfield (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) and Clarke.

On the opening day at EMU (Friday, April 19), senior/junior Troy Sneller (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton) clocked a personal-best time of 52.66 to win the 400-meter hurdles.

WALNUT, Calif. -- Two throwers represented the University of Michigan men's track and field team on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday (April 20) at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

After winning the open hammer throw with a school-record setting throw yesterday (Friday, April 19), senior/junior Ethan Dennis (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grandville) placed 10th in the hammer throw invitational today with a mark of 64.70 meters (212-3), which came on his first throw.

Junior/sophomore Cody Riffle (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) competed in the shot put invitational, where he finished eighth with a throw of 18.08 meters (59-4).

The Wolverines will be back in action at the historic Penn Relays next Thursday-Saturday (April 25-27).
