ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior/sophomore Mason Ferlic (St. Paul, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) of the University of Michigan men's track and field team will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which take place from June 26-29 at Sacramento State University's Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif. Ferlic will open competition in the prelims on Friday (June 27) at 6:22 p.m. PDT, while the finals will be contested on Sunday (June 29) at 1:52 p.m. PDT.
In his second season competing in a Maize and Blue uniform, Ferlic capped the 2014 outdoor campaign as a First Team All-American, following a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Earlier in the postseason, he won the steeplechase at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds and placed third at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. His qualifying time for the USA Championships of 8:38.74 was clocked at the preliminary rounds in Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to earning his second consecutive Academic All-Big Ten recognition this season, Ferlic was also voted to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District V first team.
Ferlic will be joined by Michigan alum and 2012 NCAA runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Craig Forys (2008-12). Former Wolverine and 2012 Olympian Jeff Porter (2004-07) will also compete in the USA Championships in the 110-meter hurdles.
