Former Runners Brannen, Willis Set for Worlds in Moscow

IAAF World Championships Schedule | Broadcast Schedule

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Former University of Michigan men's track and field teammates Nate Brannen (2002-05) and Nick Willis (2003-05) will represent their respective countries at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Athletics from Aug. 10-18 in Moscow, Russia. Brannen will represent Canada, while Willis will compete for New Zealand.

This will mark Willis' fourth appearance at the World Championships (2005, '07, '11), while Brannen will compete in his third World Championships (2005, '09).

The former teammates both competed in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, while Willis also represented New Zealand in the 2004 Games. In 2008, Willis became the first Wolverine to medal since steepler Brian Diemer won bronze in 1984, earning the silver medal in the 1,500-meter run.

The first round of the 1,500-meter run will be contested on Wednesday, Aug. 14, while the semifinals and finals will take place on Friday (Aug. 16) and Sunday (Aug. 18), respectively.

Note: Moscow, Russia is in the Moscow Standard Time Zone, which is eight hours ahead of the Eastern Daylight Time Zone.
