ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan wrestling team set its 2012-13 starting lineup Thursday evening (Oct. 25), establishing eight of 10 weight classes at its annual Maize and Blue Intrasquad on at Cliff Keen Arena. The Blue team claimed the intrasquad win, edging Maize, 23-20.
After missing last season with injury, senior/junior Sean Boyle (Lowell, Mass./Blair Academy) will return to the Wolverine lineup this season after sweeping his 125-pound wrestle-off series against freshman Conor Youtsey (Parma, Mich./Mason HS). Boyle scored on a single leg late in the first period and an ankle pick late in the second while accumulating 1:21 in riding-time advantage to secure a 6-2 decision.
Freshman Rossi Bruno (Brandon, Fla./Brandon HS) claimed an 11-3 major decision at 133 pounds against senior/junior Grant Pizzo (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS), scoring on four takedowns, including two in the third period, to earn the bonus point after 2:30 in time advantage. Bruno is one of three freshmen to win his wrestle off.
The Wolverines' 141-pound starter will be determined at a later date after sophomore/freshman Camryn Jackson (Lansing, Mich./Eastern HS) evened the series with win by injury default over junior Steve Dutton (Miller Place, N.Y./Rocky Point HS). Dutton scored quickly in the first period and rode most of the frame to earn time advantage, but Jackson converted on two takedowns following restarts in the second to steal away the lead. Dutton could not continue after the latter, and the match was halted at the 4:49 mark.
At 157 pounds, junior/sophomore Jake Salazar (Midway, Utah/Wasatch HS) scored three takedowns -- two in the first period -- to earn a 7-4 decision over junior/sophomore Michael Carpenter (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS).

Massa converted on four high crotches in the first period, taking Brancheau to his back on the last to add near-fall points. He added two more takedowns in the second and rode the bulk of the third to earn 1:18 in time advantage.
Senior/junior Dan Yates (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia HS) bumped up a weight class to defeat sophomore/freshman Brandon Hill (Fenton, Mich./Brighton HS), 21-4, and claim the 174-pound starting spot. Yates finished on six takedowns and earned seven back points, including a tilt late in the second to end the match at 4:41.
Freshman Jordan Thomas (Gowen, Mich./Greenville HS) used two takedowns to claim a 5-2 decision against junior/sophomore Chris Heald (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield HS) at 184 pounds. He scored on a high crotch in the final seconds of the first period and iced the match with a single leg early in the third.
Junior/sophomore Max Huntley (Emerald Isle, N.C./Blair Academy) pinned junior/sophomore Miles Trealout (South Lyon, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS) in exhibition action at 197 pounds, scoring two takedowns and five back points before cradling up Trealout to end the bout at 2:26.
