INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Senior/junior Eric Grajales (Brandon, Fla./Brandon HS), freshman Taylor Massa (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns HS) and senior/junior Dan Yates (Hesperia, Mich./Hesperia HS) earned seeds at their respective weight classes for the NCAA Championships when the at-large selections and bracket were announced Wednesday (March 13). The Wolverines will have seven total representatives at the NCAA tournament.
Yates earned the No. 10 seed at 174 pounds after upending Minnesota's top-ranked Logan Storley en route to a sixth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. Grajales and Massa are seeded No. 12 and 149 and 165 pounds, respectively. It will be the third straight NCAA appearance for Yates and Grajales, while Massa will make his debut in his rookie season.
Senior/junior Sean Boyle (Lowell, Mass./Blair Academy), freshman Rossi Bruno (Brandon, Fla./Brandon HS), junior/sophomore Max Huntley (Emerald Isle, N.C./Blair Academy) and fifth-year senior Ben Apland (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South HS) round out Michigan's NCAA contingent at 125, 133 and 197 pounds and heavyweight, respectively.
The NCAA also announced a format change to the championship finals, which will start at 174 pounds and end with 165 pounds.
The NCAA Championships are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, March 21-23, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
