ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan wrestling head coach Joe McFarland announced today (Wednesday, May 14) the signing of Rich Sisti (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell HS) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Wolverines for the 2014-15 academic year.
Sisti becomes of seventh member of U-M's incoming class. Malik Amine (Brighton, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS), Zac Hall (St. Johns, Mich./St. Johns HS), Davonte Mahomes (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park and River Forest HS), Alec Pantaleo (Canton, Mich./Canton HS), Zehlin Storr (Mason, Mich./Leslie HS) and Garrett Sutton (Richmond, Ill./Burton HS) all signed during the early November period.
InterMat recently tabbed the Wolverines' incoming class as the No. 10-ranked recruiting class in the country. It was Michigan's third straight top-10 rated class.
Listed as the nation's 13th-ranked 220-pound wrestler, Sisti is a two-time New York state champion, capturing back-to-back titles at 220 pounds as a junior and senior. He became the first Staten Island wrestler to capture a New York state title when he first accomplished the feat in 2013. He closed his prep career with back-to-back undefeated seasons, earning 67 straight wins with 46 falls. He went 38-0 as a senior. Among his other tournament wins, Sisti captured titles at the Eastern States Classic (2014), Journeymen Classic (2012, '13) and NYC CHSAA Championships (2012, '13, '14). He is projected to wrestle at 197 pounds at Michigan.
Michigan graduated three starters from its 2013-14 lineup.
