ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team announced its nine-event schedule for the 2013 season today (Monday, May 6). The Wolverines will kick off the season by hosting the annual Michigan Open at Hudson Mills Metropark on Friday, Aug. 30, in Dexter, Mich.
Admission for the Michigan Open is free; however, a $5 daily vehicle entry fee is charged at Hudson Mills Metropark.
Following the season opener, Michigan will compete in three new events, including the Kentucky Invitational (Sept. 14) in Lexington, Ky.; Cowboy Jamboree (Sept. 28) in Stillwater, Okla.; and the Blue and Gold Invitational (Oct. 4) in South Bend, Ind.
The Wolverines will preview the NCAA Great Lakes Regional course when they return to the University of Wisconsin for the fifth consecutive season to compete in the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 19.
This year's Big Ten Championships will be hosted by Purdue University on Nov. 3 in West Lafayette, Ind.
Prior to finishing its championship season, the Maize and Blue will participate in the Hoosier Invitational on Nov. 8 in Bloomington, Ind. Michigan will return to Wisconsin for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 15. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Last fall, coach Alex Gibby's squad earned runner-up finishes at the Big Ten and Great Lakes Regional meets before placing 23rd at the NCAA Championships.
