John earned four Michigan varsity letters as a member of the 1993, '94, '95 and '96 baseball teams. John holds the single season record for pitching appearances and also holds top spots on career record lists. John won the Betty Simmons Most Improved Player award in 1994 and the Geoff Zahn Most Valuable Pitcher award in 1996.

John graduated with a Civil and Environmental Engineering degree from the University of Michigan in 1997 and a Masters in Construction Management from Eastern Michigan in 2000. John is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Michigan and currently works for a Detroit based general contractor.

John resides in Saline with his wife Bree and four children Johnny, Clare, Ella and Jake. His wife Bree is a four year field hockey letterwinner at Michigan.
