Ellen swam for Michigan from 1975 to 1977. She was a letter winner in 1976, swimming distance freestyle events for Coach Stuart Isaac. Ellen graduated from U of M, Residential College, in 1979 with a major in History and minor in Portuguese. After college, Ellen attended Wayne State University Law School, graduating in 1983. She practiced in Detroit for the law firm Barris, Sott, Denn & Driker and then was in house counsel for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company, focusing on contract and commercial litigation. For the last ten years Ellen has volunteered her time to USA and YMCA swim teams and other charitable organizations, providing leadership and fundraising efforts.
Ellen resides in Troy with her husband Mike. Her son and daughter attend college. In her spare time she plays golf, USTA tennis, and travels.
