U-M Football Letterman Wilkins Passes Away

April 6, 2011

It is with great sorrow that we advise that Stu Wilkins passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, in Aultman Hospital, Canton, OH. He was remembered with a Celebration of Life service at Community Christian Church, North Canton, OH, on March 31, 2011.

Wilkins 68 played Michigan football 1945-1948 under "Fritz" Crisler and Bennie Oosterbaan and was a four-year letterman. He was very proud to have been a Michigan Wolverine and held his teammates in high regard . . . a special group of men. Wilkins was the starting offensive guard on the 1947 and 1948 Michigan teams.

He received his Juris Doctor degree from Michigan Law School in 1952 and was a practicing attorney for over fifty years in Canton, Ohio.

Wilkins was very active in his home community and beyond.

As a tribute to Wilkins, The Victors was played as the postlude at his service.

The Letterwinners M Club and the Michigan Athletic Department would like to offer their condolences to his wife of 60 years B.J. and the family.
