Women's Basketball Completes 2015-16 Support Staff
Barnes Arico Hires Four to Complete Women's Basketball Staff
Amy Mulligan is in her fifth year as the director of operations for the University of Michigan women's basketball team in 2016-17.
Mulligan entered the operations field after spending almost 10 seasons spearheading the media relations efforts of several women's basketball programs. At Michigan, she is responsible for planning the Wolverines' travel, budget and scheduling among many other administrative duties.
Prior to joining the staff at U-M, Mulligan served an assistant athletics media relations director at Virginia since October 2007. As the primary media relations contact for the Cavalier women's basketball and women's lacrosse programs, Mulligan was responsible for writing and editing media guides in addition to writing game recaps, news releases, game notes, game programs and feature stories. She also coordinated media interviews between student-athletes, coaches and staff in response to requests from the local and national media.
Mulligan also assisted with the media relations efforts for the Cavalier football team and served as the editor of the game day program.
Mulligan joined the UVA staff after two years as an assistant director of athletic communications at St. John's University in Queens, N.Y. While at St. John's, she worked with the women's basketball team alongside current U-M head coach Kim Barnes Arico. Before joining the Red Storm, she was an assistant media relations director at her alma mater, the University of Maryland, for two years.
She was the media contact for the Terrapin volleyball, men's and women's track and field and softball programs while assisting with the publicity efforts for the men's basketball program, including serving as the editor for the game day program.
Prior to her work in public relations, Mulligan worked at both WRC-TV NBC 4 in Washington, D.C., and the Capital-Gazette Newspaper in Annapolis, Md. Mulligan is a 2003 graduate of Maryland, where she earned a bachelor of arts in journalism with a minor in government and politics. She is a native of Annapolis, Md.
