Matt Bamford is in his second year as assistant to the head coach in 2014-15. Bamford joined the Wolverines after spending four years in the Philadelphia Belles AAU program and two years in business development with Blue Star Basketball and U.S. Junior Nationals
While working with Blue Star, he ranked upcoming years' recruiting class, developed Blue Star Tournament events and created Blue Star Camps and Rising Blue Star Events. He also evaluated talent at regional and national USJN events.
As a head coach and assistant director of the Philadelphia Belles, Bamford was in charge of the day-to-day operations of the program's Nike teams. He worked with Nike to fulfill equipment and apparel orders for all teams within the organization. He was the Nike Nationals team director for the Belles, handling the top 15-and-under and top 16-and-under teams in 2012 and 2013. He helped coach his team to winner of the 2013 Boo Williams Tournament, 2013USJN National Championship and the program's first-ever Nike National Championship.
Bamford was also an associate head coach for the Central Bucks West Girls Basketball Program in Doylestown, Pa. He was part of a turnaround that saw the Bucks go from 0-22 in 2008-09 to 20-8 in 2012-13. He was responsible for film breakdown, scouting opponents and film exchange.
He served as a student manager for the Drexel men's basketball program from 2008-10, earning his bachelor of science in business administration from Drexel in 2012.
