Michigan Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico
On getting a win at Ohio State ... "It feels great. Anytime you can come to Ohio and come away with a victory, it is terrific. That was one of the first things I was told about when I took this job is this rivalry. I did my homework and research on it. And for us to come here and get a win like we did tonight is really truly special."
On following the gameplan ... "I thought we were great, especially on the defensive end. Ohio State has been really effective this year of getting to the free throw line and actually making more free throws than the other team shoots. So that was our concern of ours and something we emphasized all week long. The kids came out and were terrific. They followed the gameplan and did what we needed to do to be successful. And we did a great job of getting to the free throw line. We had to handle some pressure and need to continue to get better at that, but we did what we needed to do to be successful tonight."
On the low shooting percentage ... "I thought part of that was that Ohio State did a great job of pressuring us defensively and forcing us into some not so great looks. Those pressured looks resulted in us not shooting the ball exceptionally well. But when they were pressuring us so much, that was when we told them to go to the rim. We did a much better job of that and then drew the fouls and were effective at the free throw line."
