Michigan has now won three straight contests against the Fighting Illini, including four straight at home.
Tonight's matchup against Illinois was the annual Pink Game in partnership with the American Cancer Society-Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Both teams wore pink versions of their uniforms and pink sneakers to support breast cancer awareness.
Rachel Sheffer scored the Wolverines' first nine points of the game. She finished the game with 21 points and seven rebounds. It was her third game this season and 13th of her career scoring at least 20 points.
With 14 points, Nya Jordan has scored in double figures in two straight contests. It is also the eighth time this season she has put up at least 10 points.
Madison Ristovski recorded the first block of her career in the win.
Kate Thompson drained five three-pointers against the Fighting Illini. It is the ninth time this season where she hit at least five triples. With her five three-pointers, she tied Carmen Reynolds' (2009-12) single-season record of 85 treys. She finished the game with 15 points and two blocks.
Jenny Ryan reached double figures in points for the 13th time this season. She also finished with seven assists, her seventh game this season with at least seven dimes.
Michigan outrebounded Illinois, 38-35, the 14th time the Maize and Blue has grabbed more boards than an opponent. Michigan is 12-2 when out-rebounding its opponent.
Kate Thompson swatted two shots tonight, bringing her career total to 79. She is eighth in career blocks in Michigan history.
