Michigan moves to 4-0 all-time against Syracuse with today's win and moves to 2-0 against teams from the BIG EAST this season. The Wolverines also move to 6-2 all-time in WNIT games played at Crisler Arena, including 5-0 in games played in the last three seasons.
The Wolverines advance to the semifinals of a national tournament for the first time in program history. U-M reached the quarterfinals of the WNIT during the 2007-08 season, which was U-M's first postseason appearance under head coach Kevin Borseth.
U-M head coach Kevin Borseth picks up his 50th career win as Michigan head coach. Borseth, in his third season as U-M head coach, has a 554-256 career record in 28 years of coaching.
Michigan picks up its 21st win of the season. It is the most wins for the Wolverines since posting 22 wins during the 1999-00 season. Should Michigan win two more games, it will set the program record for wins.
The Wolverines shot 50 percent from the field on 29-of-58 shooting. It is U-M's second-best shooting percentage of the season. U-M shot a season-best 56 percent against Minnesota on Feb. 7.
U-M posted double-figure assists (22) for the fourth consecutive game. It is the most assists this season for U-M and is the 30th game this season of double-figure assists.
Michigan has defeated its opponents by an average of 25.0 points per game during the postseason. U-M has won each WNIT game by double figures.
Veronica Hicks posted her second consecutive game in double figures, tying a career best with 24 points. She has scored in double figures in 24 games this season and is U-M's leading scorer with 12.9 points per game.
Carmen Reynolds extends her double-figure scoring streak to five consecutive games with a career-high 26 points. She has been in double figures in 25 games during the campaign.
Reynolds has also recorded at least one three-pointer in each of U-M's last 10 games. Reynolds, U-M's second leading scorer this season, is averaging 15.3 points per game in WNIT action.
Dayeesha Hollins posted five assists and four steals in today's game. She is averaging 3.0 steals and 5.0 assists per game during the WNIT.
The Wolverines move to 3-0 in their home white uniforms. Michigan has only worn their white uniforms during this season's postseason WNIT run.
