• Michigan used the starting lineup of Siera Thompson, Madison Ristovski, Nicole Elmblad, Cyesha Goree and Shannon Smith. It is the first start for everyone other than Elmblad in a Michigan uniform.

• U-M forced a 10-second backcourt violation in the second half, a new rule to the women's game this season.

Nicole Elmblad recorded the second double-figure scoring game of her career, scoring 10 points.

Siera Thompson, Paige Rakers and Shannon Smith all scored the first points of their Michigan careers.

Cyesha Goree set new career highs in points (8), rebounds (7) and minutes played (26). She played more minutes in today's contest than she did all of last season (24).

• Michigan leads the series with Bowling Green, 8-4. The teams had not faced each other since Dec. 9, 1998.

• Michigan is playing in a season-opening tournament for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

• U-M wore its maize uniforms in today's contest.

Nicole Elmblad was named captain prior to today's contest. It is the second straight season U-M has just one captain (Jenny Ryan, 2012-13).

Shannon Smith played all 40 minutes today, the first 40-minute game of her career. She previously played at North Carolina (2010-12) at the NCAA Division I level.

Kendra Seto and Val Driscoll each saw their first action since the 2011-12 season. Each player missed last year with knee injuries.
