Michigan moves to 15-53 in the all-time series against the Spartans. Michigan State has won the last five meetings between the teams and has won 13 of the last 14 meetings.
The Wolverines dropped their first televised game of the season with today's loss. Prior to today's game, Michigan had defeated Marquette and Iowa in games televised on the Big Ten Network. U-M is 6-7 all-time on the Big Ten Network.
Sophomore forward Carmen Reynolds' 18 points mark her fourth game of 15 points or more and her ninth game in double figures this season.
Senior center Krista Phillips posted her second consecutive game in double figures with 12 points and her eighth game this season in double figures.
Senior forward Ashley Jones tied her season best with seven points. She also had seven points against Kansas.
Junior guard Veronica Hicks was in double figures for the 12th time this season and for the third consecutive game.
Michigan reached 70 points for the seventh time this season. The Wolverines are 6-1 when they score at least 70 points this season. This is U-M's lone loss when scoring at least 70 points.
U-M's 20 turnovers are the third most for the Wolverines this season. Michigan is averaging 15.8 turnovers per game and had 20-plus turnovers against Marquette and Stephen F. Austin, both Michigan victories.
The Wolverines dropped their second contest this season while wearing their blue uniforms. The only other loss was to Kansas. Michigan is 4-2 in the blue uniforms.
Michigan head coach Kevin Borseth kept his suit jacket on for the entire game for the second game this season. He had his jacket on in Michigan's 72-71 upset victory over nationally-ranked Xavier on Dec. 14.
