ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- For the second consecutive season, University of Michigan women's basketball senior guard Jenny Ryan (Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District first team. She is now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Ryan, who has appeared in 117 consecutive games, is currently third on the team in scoring (11.5 points per game). The senior captain leads U-M in minutes played (731), assists (101) and steals (41) this season, helping Michigan to its best start in program history. Ryan set a new a career high with 20 points this past Sunday (Jan. 27) against Iowa, shooting 9-for-14 from the field. She has scored in double figures 12 times this season and led the Wolverines in scoring four times.
For her career, Ryan ranks second in all-time assists (423) and steals (269) while coming in at No. 10 in rebounding (649) and No. 31 in scoring (862). She ranks 12th in games played (117) and is on pace to graduate as Michigan's all-time leader.
Ryan is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and is on track to graduate this semester with a degree in communications.
Academic All-District first team honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
