ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Fifth-year coach Kevin Borseth announced today (Wednesday, April 4) his resignation as University of Michigan women's basketball coach. Borseth informed the team and staff of his departure at an afternoon meeting. He posted an 87-73 overall record and a 38-48 Big Ten mark at Michigan, including a 2012 NCAA Tournament appearance.

"I have decided to resign my position and return to Wisconsin-Green Bay as head coach," said Borseth. "My family and I have really enjoyed our time at Michigan. We have made some terrific friends and we will miss everybody. I would like to thank everyone at the University of Michigan for giving me this opportunity to be the women's basketball coach, and I wish everyone the best in the future."

"Kevin felt it was best for him and his family to return to Green Bay," said Dave Brandon, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. "We appreciate all that Kevin has done for the Michigan women's basketball program over the past five years, and we wish the Borseth family the best of everything as they move back home to Green Bay."

Borseth led the Wolverines to a 20-12 overall record in 2011-12, including an 8-8 mark and a seventh-place finish in conference play. He guided the program into postseason play during four of his five seasons, making three Women's NIT appearances and a NCAA appearance against Oklahoma this season. Borseth guided Michigan to a pair of 20-win campaigns during his tenure.

Borseth is returning to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he coached for nine seasons before accepting the Wolverines head coach position prior to the 2007-08 season. He replaces Matt Bollant, who accepted the head coaching position at the University of Illinois in late March.

A national search for Michigan's next women's basketball coach will begin immediately.
