ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior guard Kate Thompson (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) of the University of Michigan women's basketball team was selected to play for the NetScouts USA Women's All-Star Team. The team will play in a tournament in China, May 1-15.
Thompson will be joined by nine other recently graduated college players, including Big Ten players Sam Ostarello (Purdue) and Morgan Johnson (Iowa). The team will take on national teams from Australia, China and Brazil in round-robin action.
Thompson, who recently made a semifinal appearance in the State Farm Three-Point Championship, was named All-Big Ten second team this year by both the coaches and media. She made 110 three-pointers, setting a new school record and ranking second all-time in Big Ten history.
Thompson finished her career with 1,001 points, ranking 24th all-time at Michigan. She also comes in at No. 2 in three-pointers made, racking up 198 during her four years.
