ROSEMONT, Ill. -- In conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan women's basketball team released its entire schedule (dates and opponents) for the 2014-15 season on Thursday evening (Aug. 21). Game times and television designations will be announced at a later date.
Including its exhibition game, Michigan will host 17 games at Crisler Center this season. The Wolverines will host Davenport in exhibition action on Nov. 2, followed by welcoming Detroit for the season opener on Nov. 14 and Bucknell two days later on Nov. 16.
The Maize and Blue will play just four non-conference contests away from Ann Arbor, highlighted by a two-game stretch over the Thanksgiving holiday in Puerto Rico. Michigan will play Washington State (Nov. 28) and San Diego State (Nov. 29) as part of the San Juan Shootout.
U-M will conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule by playing four of its final games at home, including the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against Wake Forest (Dec. 3) and hosting Princeton (Dec. 9).
The Wolverines will kick off the Big Ten slate on Dec. 28 at Wisconsin, followed by home games against Penn State (Jan. 1) and in-state rival Michigan State (Jan. 4). Michigan will also host Ohio State (Jan. 11), Illinois (Jan. 26), Maryland (Jan. 29), Rutgers (Feb. 8), Northwestern (Feb. 14), Indiana (Feb. 18) and Purdue (Feb. 24) during the conference schedule.
Michigan will play nine Big Ten road games to go along with its nine home contests to mark the first 18-game conference schedule since the 2009-10 season.
The Wolverines are coming off back-to-back 20-win seasons with head coach Kim Barnes Arico entering her third year at the helm. Michigan welcomes back four starters from last year's 20-14 team in seniors Nicole Elmblad (St. Ignace, Mich./LaSalle), Cyesha Goree (Grand Rapids, Mich./Wyoming Park) and Shannon Smith (Forestview, N.C./Gastonia [Trinity Valley C.C.]) and sophomore Siera Thompson (Gardena, Calif./Serra). Joining the returning group is a five-member freshman class ranked No. 23 by the All-Star Girls Report.
Season tickets for the Wolverines are now on sale and up for renewal through the U-M Ticket Office. New and renewed season tickets are $40 and must be purchased by Sept. 1 to receive commemorative tickets. [ More information ]
