Lake Como and Bellagio -- by Paige Rakers
Last night we arrive in Como, Italy, after a four-hour bus rid. Once we arrived, we checked into the hotel and settled in. The view outside this hotel is beautiful. You can see part of the city of Como, Lake Como and the mountains in the background.
At dinner, I was honored to sit with the two women who blessed us with this trip of a lifetime: Nancy Lohr and Claudia Borders. While sharing a delicious Italian meal with Nancy and Claudia, not only did i get to know more about them, but they also got to know more about me. It was the perfect start to Italy.
This morning after eating breakfast in the hotel, we walked to the boat stop. After boarding the boat, it was about a two-hour ride to Bellagio. The boat ride was definitely something I will never forget. It was great to spend time with the team and staff while enjoying the breathtaking scenery around Lake Como. That isn't an experience you can get more than once.
The boat ride did get pretty cold with the wind and there was a bit of competition to see who could sit out in the open area the longest. Only some of us lasted the whole ride.
The boat took us to Bellagio and we were split into our assigned groups. My group was Byrd (Cyesha Goree), Kendra (Seto), Cee (Siera Thompson), Emma (Golen) and Coach Joy. Bellagio was amazing. The narrow alleys had stairs to walk up just like you would see in the movies. We walked around, ate some lunch together, looked around the shops and took so many pictures.
The best part of the day has yet to come. We have our second game tonight, and the team is excited to play together again. Even though it will be my second time wearing that Michigan uniform, it will be just as special as the first.
Overall, this trip has been wonderful so far. It is an experience and trip of a lifetime with people I will always remember. I can't wait to see the rest of Italy!
