ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In conjunction with the Big Ten Conference, the University of Michigan women's basketball team announced its complete 2013-14 schedule on Tuesday (Aug. 27).
Michigan will play one exhibition contest, taking on Wayne State on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. The Wolverines will officially kick off the 2013-14 season at a tournament hosted by Iona (Nov. 8-9), playing two games in New York. The Maize and Blue will first be in action at Crisler Center on Nov. 13 against Xavier.
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, U-M will play in the Barclays Invitational at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., taking on Texas Tech on Nov. 29 and either LSU or Rutgers on Nov. 30. The Maize and Blue will wrap up the road portion of the non-conference at Virginia in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Dec. 5.
Following the Challenge game, Michigan will host four straight games at Crisler Center, highlighted by a contest against Notre Dame on Dec. 14. U-M's final non-conference contest of the season comes on Dec. 28 against Alcorn State at Crisler.
Michigan will play Illinois, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue and Wisconsin in home-and-home series this season. U-M will host Iowa, Michigan State and Minnesota at home in single-play action while traveling to Northwestern, Penn State and Indiana for road contests.
The Maize and Blue opens the conference slate on Jan. 5 at Ohio State and concludes the regular season on March 1 at Penn State.
Television designations will be announced at a later date.
U-M is coming off a 22-11 season in 2012-13, making the second round of the NCAA Tournament for just the third time in program history. The Wolverines return one starter from last season and welcome four newcomers to the squad, while four others are coming off injuries in 2012-13.
