Thursday's Teddy Bear Toss to Support Charity in Newtown, Conn.

Dec. 19, 2012

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team will hold its annual holiday Teddy Bear Toss at the game on Thursday (Dec. 20) vs. Valparaiso at Crisler Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., with the Teddy Bear Toss taking place at the conclusion of the game.

All bears collected at Thursday's game will be donated to "Operation Fuzzy Wuzzy II" to help benefit those affected by last week's tragedy in Newtown, Conn. In addition to the bears collected at the women's basketball game, a portion of the 1,478 stuffed animals received at Saturday's men's ice hockey game will also be sent to Newtown. Several other local charities will also receive bears from the hockey game, including: Hope Clinic, Ann Arbor "Adopt a Family", C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Salvation Army and Faith in Action.

All fans that bring a stuffed animal to donate at Thursday's women's basketball game will also be eligible to receive a general admission ticket for $3 (regularly $7).
