ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan field hockey team will hold its "Stick it to Cancer" fundraiser this Sunday (Oct. 16) in conjunction with its game against Penn State beginning at noon at Ocker Field.
The Wolverines will be collecting donations for the National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) during the game and auctioning off an autographed stick by the team. Michigan also will be selling pink T-shirts during the game and the Maize and Blue will wear the T-shirts during warm-ups before the game against the Nittany Lions.
The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) is a leading charity dedicated to funding cancer research and public education relating to cancer prevention, earlier diagnosis, better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for cancer. NFCR promotes and facilitates collaboration among scientists to accelerate the pace of discovery from bench to bedside.
The Michigan field hockey program is one of five Wolverine teams (volleyball, men's soccer, softball and football) to wear pink during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
