August 6-7, 2012 -- Alyssa Shimel tied for sixth at the 2012 Ohio Women's Open held at the Eagle Rock Golf Club in Defiance, Ohio. After opening with a 75, she followed with a 73 to close with a 148 36-hole total. In addition to Shimel, Lauren Grogan played in the event and tied for 41st at 160 (81-79). [ Ohio Women's Open ]

July 31-Aug 2, 2012 -- Alyssa Shimel and Lauren Grogan combined together to finish 16th out of 54 collegiate teams at the Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship at the Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio. With three varying formats played throughout the three days, the Wolverine duo posted a final 299 team total after tallying a 73 in the alternate shot format on day one, combining for a 74 in the better-ball format on day two and closing with a 152 total in the final day aggregate format -- Grogan 71 and Shimel 81. July 25-27, 2012 -- Current assistant coach Colleen Cashman-McSween earned a top-10 finish at the 2012 Illinois Women's Open held at the Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville, Ill. Opening with a 73, Cashman-McSween followed with a 71 in the second round, putting her in contention for the Open title. A final-round 77 helped her to a 221 total and a tie for 10th finish. July 16-20, 2012 -- Three Wolverines -- Devon Compton and incoming players Ella Pendy and Alicia Weber -- were in the field for the 96th Michigan Women's Amatuer Championship, which was held at Forest Akers West Course in East Lansing, Mich. All three Wolverines advanced to match play as Compton led the way, earning the No. 4 seed after tying for fourth in stroke play at 149 (78-71). Weber earned the 20th seed after tying for 18th at 156 (82-74), while Pendy is the 30th seed after tying for 29th at 159 (76-83). Compton lost her first match to No. 29 Theresa Damico (Olivet), 3-and-2, while Weber lost 5-and-4 to No. 13 Melissa Beurmann (WMU) and Pendy lost 3-and-2 to No. 3 Natalie Brehm (MSU). June 9-10, 2012 -- Incoming freshman Cat Peters won the New York State High School Federation State Championship with a 147 total. After opening with a 75, she rallied with a championship-best 72 to win the title by two shots. [ 2012 NYSPHSAA Results ]

May 30-31, 2012 -- Yugene Lee used a 71 to finish as the medalist runner-up at the Oaks Course in Covington, Ga., while Alyssa Shimel shot a 76 to finish as the medalist runner-up at the Twin Base Golf Course in Fairborn, Ohio, giving the Wolverines two players in the field for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, which will be held June 18-23 at the Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, N.J.
