ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf head coach Cheryl Stacy announced today (Wednesday, Nov. 16) the signing of Catherine "Cat" Peters (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence HS) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012-13 academic year.
"I am very happy to have Cat join the Michigan golf family," said Stacy. "Her work ethic, athletic ability and enthusiasm for Michigan will be tremendous for our team going forward. She is a great fit for Michigan."
For two years, Peters played her prep golf on the Clarence boys varsity team before the school created a girls program in 2010. A captain in 2011, she finished fourth at the New York State High School Girls Golf Championship. She is a four-year varsity scholar athlete and is active in the Science Olympiads, the Latin Club and the Future Teachers of America.
In her junior career, she was named the 2010 Player of the Year in the Western New York Junior PGA. She earned medalist honors at the 2011 International Junior Golf Tour event at Fowler's Mill and the 2011 Section VI Girls Championships. Overall she has tallied nine tournament wins in Junior PGA tournaments.
