PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Kylee Botterman (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) of the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team picked up right where she left off in 2010, earning 2011's first Big Ten Women's Gymnast of the Week award after winning the final weekly honor last season. Botterman was chosen as the Big Ten's best after capturing three individual titles at the Michigan State Quad (Jan. 7), winning titles on vault (9.875), balance beam (9.825) and in the all-around (39.400) in the Wolverines' sweep of Iowa, Western Michigan and Michigan State.
Botterman's 39.400 in the all-around was the nation's fourth-highest total in week one and the highest road all-around score in the nation. Botterman was a first-team All-American on vault and a second-team All-American in the all-around last season and has five All-America honors in total on her resume.
The weekly honor is the third of Botterman's career, following a pair of Big Ten Gymnast of the Week nods in 2010. She and the third-ranked Wolverines host conference rivals No. 21 Illinois and Penn State on Friday (Jan. 14) at 7:30 p.m. in Crisler Arena. Live video will be available on MGoBlue.com.
