PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Freshman Natalie Beilstein (Butler, Pa./Knoch) of the University of Michigan women's gymnastics team earned the inaugural Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Freshman of the Week award on Monday (Jan. 11) after winning a pair of event titles in her first collegiate meet at the Michigan Tri Meet Saturday (Jan. 9).

Beilstein took the top spot in both events she competed in, scoring a 9.875 on vault and a 9.850 on floor in her debut meet. Her vault score was the second-highest in the Big Ten this year, while her floor score was the sixth-highest in the first week of competition. Thanks to Beilstein's performances, Michigan extended its Big Ten win streak to 29 and remains undefeated in conference action over more than 1,000 days.

The Wolverines host Michigan State in a midweek tilt on Wednesday (Jan. 20) at 7 p.m. in Crisler Arena. The meet will be broadcast by the Big Ten Network and will air on tape-delay Saturday (Jan. 23) at 1 p.m.
