Wolverines Add Williams to 2013 Recruiting Class

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics head coach Bev Plocki announced Wednesday (Jan. 11) that Lindsay Williams (Northville, Mich./Northville) will join the team beginning in the 2012-13 academic year. Williams joins previous signees Morgan Smith (Clermont, Fla./East Ridge) and Austin Sheppard (Dallas, Texas/Plano East) in the 2013 recruiting class.

Williams hails from nearby Northville, Mich., and attends Northville High School. She trains with Splitz Gymastics in Canton, Mich., where she is coached by Eileen Spicher and former U-M men's gymnast Justin Laury (2003-07). Williams was the 2011 National Invitational Tournament all-around champion and is expected to provide depth on uneven bars and on balance beam.

The Wolverines open the 2012 season on Friday (Jan. 13) against No. 18 Ohio State at 6 p.m. inside Crisler Center.
