ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's gymnastics head coach Bev Plocki announced the addition of transfer Paige Zaziski to the 2016-17 roster.
"Including Paige in our Michigan program and family will be a great thing for both of us," said Plocki. "She is a really positive, upbeat young lady. That is great for our team. She is a talented all-around athlete who will plug some holes for us, increasing a higher level of depth we are looking for and provide a healthy competition for lineups."
Zaziski, a Chesterfield, Michigan, native, competed for two seasons at the University of Arkansas. She was the 2015 Co-SEC Freshman of the Year and a two-time All-SEC selection. She owns 11 career event titles with eight on bars, one on beam and two in the all-around. In the classroom, Zaziski excelled as a sports management major, earning the team's Scholastic Award in 2016 as well as a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
In the final Road to Nationals individual rankings in 2016, Zaziski ranked tied for 36th on bars, tied for 63rd on vault and tied for 104th on beam. She competed in all 13 lineups on the three events as a sophomore, winning four bars titles.
A three-time SEC Freshman of the Week in 2015, she tied the program's record and set a freshman record with a 9.95 on bars against Florida.
A product of Hunts Gymnastics Academy, Zaziski had three top-10 finishes at the 2012 Junior Olympic National Meet after winning Region 5 titles in the all-around, bars and beam. She was a two-time Michigan state champion in the all-around and a member of the 2012 Region 5 All-Star team.
Michigan returns all of its lineup from 2016 except one vault, two bars, one beam and one floor competitor. Zaziski joins five incoming freshmen as newcomers for Team 41.
