INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The 2011-12 University of Michigan women's gymnastics team and three gymnasts -- senior Katie Zurales (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and juniors Teresa Arthur (Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley) and Stephanie Colbert (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) -- received Scholastic All-America honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) on Tuesday (Aug. 14).
Since 1989, a total of 50 U-M gymnasts have been named Scholastic All-Americans. Zurales becomes the 14th U-M gymnast to be named Scholastic All-American three or more times in her collegiate career, with eight of those receiving the honor all four years of college, most recently Sarah Curtis (2008-11). Arthur and Colbert each received the honor for the second straight season.
Individually, student-athletes were recognized for attaining a year-long or cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
